Beyond getting pregnant INCIID has two VERY IMPORTANT goals for program recipients. Each time you decide on a way to raise funds for INCIID, you should ask yourself whether the fund raiser meets the program goals. As recipients we gladly volunteer and we are afforded an opportunity others are not. For those reasons we.agree:
Every participant should be an ambassador and promoter of this unique and amazing program.
Every recipient should be an INCIID advocate and a partner in helping to raise awareness about infertility. They should give compassionate support to others who find themselves in the same circumstances. For Example, becoming an INCIID volunteer or forum I-Host for forums and/or chats are two areas of great need where we would welcome your individual help.
The “From INCIID the Heart Scholarship Program” has been a wonderful and successful vehicle to parenthood for a number of recipients of the scholarship. However for the program to continue to grow and flourish, meeting the unique needs go beyond a charitable gift and become a partnership with program participants (including staff, volunteers and scholarship recipients).
Just as those who seek treatment, are partners in their care, INCIID believes those who need our help will become partners. This partnership is important and something we consider as integral to support and our working together.
Through active fund raising for INCIID, you as recipients invest yourselves in the organization while promoting a cause which is both personal and passionate to each and every one of you. As partners you will help others and as a result help yourselves.
The result of your commitment to the Heart Program and to INCIID is like the limbs of a tree branching out to reach strangers, friends, family/relatives and others raising awareness for services and programs INCIID offers. This kind of commitment is giving us a wider audience in telling some of the incredible INCIID stories. This hopefully doesn’t stop with a free treatment cycle but will go on as you build your families.
INCIID continues to be a consumer-oriented grass roots organization remaining independent of big business and other conflicts of interest in support of the infertility consumer. The Heart Program should be able to sustain and support itself within the infertility community. For this work to continue recipients need to be in the forefront as ambassadors and in outreach to the rest of the infertile community. Efforts for community fundraising are at the core of our family oriented philosophy.
Currently the amount is that recipients volunteer to raise is $3500. Scholarship recipients are eager to help us raise money by holding fund raising events around the country. Some events have included: golf outings, yard sales, fun runs, auctions etc. We use a point system.
Recipients form fund raising teams to help meet their pledges.
Donated funds do not come from you personally. They are not raised for any one person’s benefit. They are donations given to INCIID in support of the INCIID Mission, programs, services and information dissemination to the infertile population worldwide. Fund come from the formation of fund raising teams who reach out to their communities. Donations to a charity are tax deductible.
Some people have asked us if they can just pay the money. Technically, yes you could do this but that somewhat defeats the purpose and goal of the fund raising efforts on the part of the scholarship recipient/s. The funds generated for INCIID scholarship recipients are much more than money to support the organization.
When you are raising funds you are also raising awareness of what INCIID does and the plight of infertility patients, their lack of insurance and many other dilemmas faced by couples. This is every bit as important if not more important the money itself.
No. Money raised goes into the INCIID general fund. To find out exactly how INCIID spends the money, look at the annual 990 tax return sent to the Internal Revenue Service. You can get a copy from Guidestar. The services from clinics are donated medical services. The medications used for stimulating the ovaries are also donated.
No, the money raised for INCIID a 501 c 3 nonprofit charity goes to support the mission and work INCIID does in support of consumers. The money goes into the INCIID general fund. Pledged donations are not payment for services. Money pledged and raised are donation to charity.
As a nonprofit INCIID can not guarantee a free IVF cycle for any individual who raises money for the organization. Those who donate to the organization are doing so because they believe in the mission and want to help. Our goal however, is to see that everyone in the program receives a donated IVF cycle through the program. There can be physical, medical and geographic extenuating circumstances that may keep a couple or individual from completing the program. There are circumstances that are beyond our control. Some recipients may change their mind. Some may have a spontaneous pregnancy and drop out of the program. INCIID wants you to become parents and will do everything in its power to place anyone in the program with the best possible situation for the individual to realize their dream of having a family.
The fund raising agreement and requirement is NOT a subsidy or payment or guarantee of a cycle but only pleged support for INCIID programs.
No, scholarships are non-transferable.
No, if a recipient of a scholarship becomes pregnant the recipient/s are not eligible to continue in the program. However if you should miscarry, you may come back into the program without re-application. We may need an update depending on the length of time that has passed.
No, the donations from friends, relatives, yourself or strangers are tax deductible donations to a nonprofit. They are not refunded.
If you want to raise money for travel, you can but you can not use our name in doing so. Any money raised for travel is not tax deductible as a donation. To be tax deductible a donation has to be going to a nonprofit. However, you may be able to deduct your travel expenses from your own taxes under medical expenses. Check with your accountant to see if these expenses would apply to your personal situation.
INCIID will track documentation of funds. When the commitment level is reached INCIID will start the matching process. We will provide you with more specific details on how to report your progress when you begin fund raising. Currently written documentation is sent around the 10th of each month.
