Marc Goldstein, M.D., D.Sc. (hon), F.A.C.S.

Dr. Marc Goldstein is the Matthew P. Hardy Distinguished Professor of Reproductive Medicine and Urology at Weill Cornell Medicine, Surgeon-in-Chief of Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and Director of the Center for Male Reproductive Medicine and Microsurgery. He is a board-certified urologic surgeon and one of the world's foremost specialists in the microsurgical treatment of male infertility.

A pioneer in the field, Dr. Goldstein has evaluated more than 20,000 men for infertility. He introduced the no-scalpel vasectomy to the Western world—performing over 4,000 procedures with the lowest complication and failure rates in the peer-reviewed literature—and pioneered the microsurgical repair of varicoceles, the most common cause of male infertility, performing more than 5,000 with similarly leading outcomes. He has also developed microsurgical techniques for the treatment of scrotal disorders and for vasectomy reversal and the management of obstructive and non-obstructive azoospermia.

Dr. Goldstein joined Weill Cornell Medicine in 1982, where he founded and continues to direct the Center for Male Reproductive Medicine and Microsurgery—the first university center in the United States devoted exclusively to male infertility treatment and research. He completed his urology training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and a fellowship at the Population Council's Center for Biomedical Research at Rockefeller University, where he remains a Senior Scientist. In 2023 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

Prior to his medical career, Dr. Goldstein served as a Major in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era, flying the RF-4C Phantom on more than 80 overseas missions. An avid long-distance runner, he has completed 20 New York City Marathons and 45 triathlons and duathlons.
