Biography

Steven A. Brody, M.D., Ph.D.: Dr. Brody is a Reproductive Endocrinologist and Medical Director of Lifespan Medical Institute in La Jolla and San Diego, CA. Dr. Brody has extensive experience in endocrinology & metabolism, gynecology and anti-aging. He has treated cancer patients at Yale-New Haven hospital and has delivered hundreds of babies as Chief Resident in Ob-Gyn at Stanford medical center. Compassion has been emblematic of his attitude towards health and healing. He is the only recognized M.D. in the U.S. who has been Board Certified in 4 areas: Internal Medicine (Yale-New Haven Hospital) Endocrinology & Metabolism (National Institutes of Health) Obstetrics & Gynecology (Stanford University School of Medicine Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (Baylor College of Medicine) He has maintained Certification in Endocrine Medicine, and he is a Life Fellow of the Amer. College of Ob-Gyn. He served as Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSD for 12 years. He was the Medical Director of IVF at Alvarado hospital and a past Board member of the San Diego County Medical Society. As his infertility patients have gotten older, Dr. Brody has expanded his practice to treat disorders of menopause and andropause using traditional, integrative and complementary medicine. Dr. Brody served in the military as a Lieutenant Commander (surgeon) in the U.S. Public Health Service. He strives to share his medical knowledge with doctors, as well as those in need. He has lectured in many countries throughout the world, including the U.S., Peru, Colombia, Ukraine, Russia and Japan. Dr. Brody co-authored "Endocrine Disorders in Pregnancy" while at Stanford. As a researcher at Cambridge he wrote "Principles and Practice of Assisted Human Reproduction" with Professor Robert Edwards, recipient of the 2010 Nobel Prize in Medicine. He is most proud of his son, David; and Katie, an attorney in London. Dr. Brody is a medical specialist in: Infertility, Gynecology & IVF; Bioidentical Hormone Therapy, and Age Management Medicine. Our offices are open between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. Advanced Fertility Institute is located near Grossmont Hospital in the city of La Mesa, in San Diego County. Our satellite office, the La Jolla Fertility Clinic, is located on the campus of Scripps Memorial Hospital, in La Jolla.
