Biography
Dr. Keith L. Blauer is a board certified infertility specialist reproductive endocrinologist located in Salt Lake City, UT. Dr. Blauer was raised in the farming community of Burley Idaho and graduated from Burley High School in 1973. Dr. Blauer served as a missionary for the LDS church in the Japan Fukuoka Mission from 1974-1976. He completed his undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Zoology at Brigham Young University in 1979 and then received a Health Professions Scholarship from the United States Air Force to attend the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. He was elected to AOA (Medical Honor Society) prior to graduation from the University of Washington in 1983. Dr. Blauer completed a four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Keesler USAF Medical Center in Biloxi Mississippi. He completed his infertility specialist, Reproductive Endocrinology, Infertility Fellowship subspecialty training at the Combined Federal Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology, Infertility at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). During his fellowship, he was actively involved in organized medicine and was the Armed Forces Junior Fellow District Chairman of the American College of Obstetrician and Gynecologists (ACOG). He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. From 1989 to 1993, Dr. Blauer was the fertility doctor who directed the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility service at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio and established the first affiliated in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT) program in the Department of Defense. The first patients that participated in both the IVF program and the GIFT program conceived. Dr. Blauer served as the residency research coordinator at Wright State University and helped train numerous residents and medical students. He received several awards from the residents over the years for being an excellent teacher and mentor. Upon completion of his military commitments, Dr. Blauer joined Reproductive Endocrinology Associates and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology with the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, South Carolina. In addition to managing infertility patients care he supervised the training of the OB-GYN residents as the Associate Residency Program Director. He completed his MBA in 1996 with a certificate in Healthcare Administration from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business. During his business training, he focused on developing multiple cycles and money back guarantee IVF programs for infertility patients. Many fertility programs have embraced the money back guarantee program making it possible for patients to conceive or, if unable, to use their refunds for adoption. Dr. Blauer joined the Genetics & IVF Institute as a Senior Reproductive Endocrinologist, Infertility Specialist in 1997. For many years GIVF was one of the largest integrated Genetics and IVF programs in the world. He was actively involved in their IVF, donor egg, donor embryo, reproductive surgery, MicroSort gender selection, and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) programs. During his time at GIVF, he served as the Infertility Medical Director, MicroSort Director, CEO and chairman of the board. He helped train fertility doctors and staff from several of the premier IVF programs in China and assisted in developing and opening an IVF Center in Harbin, China in 2002. Dr. Blauer has been on the faculty of four medical schools including the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Wright State University (WSU), University of South Carolina (USC) and the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). After spending 21 years east of the Mississippi River he was extremely pleased to return to the Salt Lake City Utah area to practice reproductive endocrinology/infertility. He is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI), the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART), the Society of Reproductive Surgeons (SRS), The Endocrine Society, American College of Physician Executives (Certified Physician Executive), American College of OB/GYN (Fellow), and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology. He regularly attends the major infertility meetings in the United States (ASRM) and Europe (ESHRE) in order to maintain cutting-edge technology at Reproductive Care Center. In recent years he has focused on the ESHRE meetings in order to keep abreast of the rapidly developing technology in egg freezing. He has published abstracts, scientific papers and book chapters on a variety of topics including immunologic effects of DHEA, preventing pelvic adhesions after surgery, outpatient treatment of ovarian hyperstimulation after IVF, cumulative probability of pregnancy when using an egg donor, pregnancy rates in women over 40 using IVF, anti-sperm antibodies, pharmacokinetics of sublingual estrogen and MicroSort gender selection technology. Dr. Blauer has been happily married to Raye Jean Bosley since 1977 and has 6 children and 17 grandchildren.
