To our INCIID community — we have missed you.

For those who have been with us for years, you know that the INCIID Community Forums have always been the heart of what we do. Long before Facebook groups, Reddit threads, and Instagram comment sections became the default gathering places for fertility patients, INCIID was here — offering a private, moderated, expert-informed space where you could ask the hard questions, share the painful moments, and find people who truly understood.

We owe you an honest explanation of where we have been.

Like so many nonprofits, INCIID was devastated by the financial impact of COVID-19. Corporate sponsorships that had sustained our work for years disappeared almost overnight as companies redirected resources and priorities shifted across the entire healthcare landscape. We lost the majority of our funding. It was, frankly, a fight for survival — and for a period of time, we had to scale back operations significantly, including suspending the forums.

We could have walked away. We didn’t.

Instead, INCIID has been slowly and deliberately rebuilding — restoring our infrastructure, rebuilding our advisory relationships, expanding our content, and doing the unglamorous work of laying a foundation that will carry this organization and this community forward for years to come. Reopening the forums is not just a technical milestone. It is a statement of intent. The INCIID forums are back, and we are not going anywhere.

The forums themselves required a significant infrastructure migration — moving from our legacy platform to vBulletin Cloud. This was months of careful work to ensure that when we reopened, we did so on a platform that is stable, secure, and built to serve this community for the next decade. We were not willing to rush it. You deserve better than that.

But the technical work was only part of the reason this mattered so much to us.

The other reason is this: the internet has changed dramatically since INCIID first launched its forums, and not always for the better. Social media platforms have become loud, chaotic, and often deeply harmful places for people navigating infertility, pregnancy loss, and family building. Misinformation spreads faster than accurate information. Trolls and insensitive comments find their way into spaces that should feel safe. Algorithms serve you content designed to provoke emotion rather than provide support. Your personal journey — one of the most private and painful experiences of your life — becomes content for platforms that profit from your engagement.

INCIID’s forums have never worked that way. They never will.

Here, your handle is your identity — not your real name. What you share stays within this community. There are no advertisements targeting you based on your diagnosis. There is no algorithm deciding what you see. There are no strangers stumbling into your thread because it went viral. There is moderation — real, thoughtful moderation — by people who understand what this community needs and what it does not.

What you will find here is what you have always found here: people who are living what you are living. People further along the path who remember what it felt like to be where you are now. Medical information you can trust, because it comes from INCIID’s advisory board of leading reproductive endocrinologists, embryologists, attorneys, and mental health professionals. And a standard of conversation — respectful, honest, compassionate — that social media simply cannot offer.

We rebuilt this forum for you. We are glad to have you back.
